More Commentaries Coming Up!
Hey ADO fans! First I want to thank everyone who has been visiting and becoming a fan via our page on Facebook! It’s great to see so many people who enjoy Asian drama and also my writing *grin*. If you’re on FB please stop by and visit!
I have been receiving a lot of comments via email from people asking when I will be writing again. My Japanese class really took a turn for the difficult towards Week 5. You’ll notice that I stopped updating pretty much after Week 4 *laugh*. I found that I hit a point where I was learning new material – I caught up to what I had learned via self study years ago – and I just didn’t have time to do much other than study. My last class was this past Wednesday and I’ll very much miss it. Learning Japanese is an important dream of mine and I was very thankful for the opportunity to learn at the Berlitz school … despite the massive wallet rape that was involved. *grin* I will go back to self study but I think I have a much stronger foundation in just 8 Weeks than I did before. I am confident that I’ll be able to continue learning Japanese via self study and using the several online resources that I mentioned in a previous post. Thanks also to everyone who sent me encouraging emails during my Japanese class! I will continue to periodically post on my progress with learning Japanese.
Now that my schedule is freed up again, I can return to writing about drama somewhat regularly! Kon Kon! *grin*
I decided when I started ADO that there was no way I would be able to write on every episode but here is how I will most likely tackle this blog from here on out so everyone can understand my process.
1. Write an INTRO POST. These will usually be my initial impression after watching ONLY THE FIRST EPISODE. A good example of what an INTRO post will be like is this one for Kiina.
2. Write a COMPLETED POST. These will be my impressions after completing the whole series.
These INTRO and COMPLETED posts will usually be for short dramas, 12 episodes of shorter, because I tend to watch those all in one batch over a course of a few days. Stopping to write on every episode, when I have them all, really causes me to lose the dramatic flow. An exception would be if something significant happens to come up and I can write a good psychological or sociological commentary on it that I feel warrants a whole post. A good example of this are my posts on The Quiz Show and Hancho that are after the initial INTRO posts.
Some completed dramas are so deliciously addicting that I just can’t stop and write an INTRO post *grin* and I just plow through them without sleeping. When this happens I will most likely write just ONE COMPLETED POST on the entire experience. A good example of this is my commentary for Queen Of Enka.
1. Write an INTRO POST. Again, this will be based on watching ONLY THE FIRST EPISODE.
2. Write a MID SERIES POST. This post will usually be based on having watched between 4 and 6 episodes depending on how long (if I know) the series is. The exception to this is Korean dramas which tend to be longer than Japanese dramas. Korean dramas may have two of these MID SERIES posts.
3. Write a COMPLETED POST. Again, this will be my impressions after completing the whole series.
If I am watching several dramas that started around the same time and the subbing teams are putting out episodes regularly, I may combine all of the MID SERIES posts into one long post. It’s possible that I may not have a lot to say on every drama to warrant an entire post per series so if that happens I will write one post about all of my mid series thoughts.

(Whee! I finally can use some Japanese I learned!)
As always, the FUTURE POSTS page will be updated with new information also as well as listing any new series that I plan to blog on.
Now that I have finished my Japanese class, I have several dramas to catch up on and write about.
A couple of the series I started writing on this season were super short and are already finished being subbed like The Quiz Show from SBK (Thanks so much you guys for the batch!) and Mr Brain from the AWESOME GiriGiri Fansubs (You guys ROCK!). Kiina also was finally completed by the hardworking team of Shigechan & Bjorno (I am so looking forward to this!!! WOOT!) and Godhand Teru was long ago finished by TimelesSubs.
Because some of these series were so short – under 10 episodes – I may just write COMPLETED posts for those and not bothering with MID SERIES ones. The more involved series like The Quiz Show and Mr Brain may warrant several per episode commentaries before I write COMPLETED ones for them. I will have to see when I watch them. I need to catch up also on Boss, Hancho, and Majo Saiban, which are all, I believe, nearing subtitle completion.
I have recently found some Korean dramas that I am enjoying (FINALLY, RIGHT?) so I plan to give some love to KDrama! Look for some INTRO posts on those also in the next week.
Whew! I have a lot to do! I better get started! *happy grin*
Thanks everyone, fans and subbing groups, for your continued support and hard work!
